Richmond Palace arial street view

Old Palace Lane is a grade 2 listed building required extensive refurbishment, lowering of the lower ground floors, strengthening of the upper floors and a new double height rear opening.

A highly sensitive approach was taken with the existing materials and fabric with close relationships developed with heritage and planning consultants. Existing materials such as the original flag stones were re-used as well as existing bricks for the rear elevation.

Traditional materials and workmanship were used including lime mortar of the masonry and lime render was used internally for the re-rendering of the internal walls.

The lower ground floor space was opened up with new support structure sensitively and seamlessly integrated into the existing building fabric.

High quality interiors were achieved with hand made kitchen furniture and a completely refurbished original internal staircase.
