This Grade 1 Listed property in Holland Park, was the home of world renown Charles Jencks landscape designer and architectural historian. Jensen Hunt Design had the pleasure of working directly with him on this project.
Working with Smith Brooke Architects we converted the lower ground car garage and workshop into exhibition space through lowering of the existing slab through sequential underpinning and opening up the internal spaces. Existing vaulted spaces below the existing pavement were lowered and opened up to provide additional functional spaces.
In recognition of his work the house has recently been Grade 1 Listed, a building created by him in collaboration with many highly regarded architects, such as Terry Farrell, Nick Grimshaw, Michael Graves and Piers Gough, who all worked to transform the house into a built manifesto for Post-Modern Architecture..
Jensen Hunt Design remain appointed to oversee the ongoing maintenance of the property and undertake periodic surveys for the Jencks Foundation.
