JHD are providing structural design services for the Public Realm Planter Facade System.

The brief required the design of a lightweight, modular steel system to support the sustainably sourced timber larch facade. It had to be demountable to allow for maintenance if required.

JHD liaised closely with the steel fabrication specialist, GTEC, and timber specialist & client, Pantera Carpentry, to ensure an efficient and simple design was designed.

FEA analysis of thin plated steel sections, 4mm in some places, was robustly analysed to ensure both manufacturing cost efficiency and structural robustness.
